10.9. Focus on well-being in institutional contexts
What this is about
School, sports club, youth centre, workplace: young people are shaped by more than just family and friends. They also operate within institutions that have a major impact on their well-being and health. Often, young people are not sufficiently involved in shaping these spaces and being allowed to help define rules and procedures. Enabling greater participation by young people is very important: active involvement gives young people a better awareness of their ability to affect things, and means that they are more likely to subsequently also get actively involved in shaping their environment as adults. They do not simply withstand problems, but are instead able to actively tackle them and come up with solutions.
